Could ALIEN: ISOLATION Actually Be Good?

There have been quite a few video games based on the Alien franchise, and as a general rule they’ve kind of sucked. However, the makers of the upcoming Alien: Isolation are saying all the right things to get everyone’s hopes up. Again.

The game’s website describes it like this,

Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance.

As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.

Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

A survival horror game where it’s just you trapped on a ship with one Alien and all you have to is not die? Damn, that sounds like a hell of a game. And it looks so nice too.

But we have been burned before. So, seriously, keep that optimism cautious.
