Marvel’s AGENTS OF SHIELD Staying Around, Joined By AGENT CARTER

DC’s not going to have all the fun this fall. Marvel’s staying in the TV game too.

While Agents of SHIELD might not have had the best first season*, thankfully they found their footing towards the end which seemed to be enough for Marvel and ABC to give the series more time to expand and improve. I’m wondering, since SHIELD (the organization) is no more, if SHIELD (the show) will get a title change. It’ll certainly be getting a concept change.

Also coming to TVs will be Agent Carter, based on the short of the same name that appeared on the Iron Man Three Blu-ray. The official description states,

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” follows the story of Peggy Carter (Atwell). It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve),  Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter,” the series is executive produced by Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters, Steve McFeely & Christopher Marcus and Jeph Loeb.

Agent Carter brings back Hayley Atwell and Dominic Cooper reprising their roles as Peggy Carter and Howard Stark, respectively. It’s also interesting to note that the series comes from two female showrunners, something a bit unexpected for the genre (remember how big a deal it was when Lexi Alexander directed Punisher: War Zone).
