Watch The BLUE BEETLE Animation Test
Written by Skott Stoland on 07/28/2010 – 11:56 AM -For the second time in a week, the Blue Beetle live-action/animation test comes up again. Last time, it was because the test was (at least partially) really for an upcoming episode of Smallville, and this time it’s because we’re actually getting to see that test for ourselves.
The test footage was shot by Alex Winter (yes, the former Wyld Stallyn), who has been working for the past few years directing the live-action Ben 10 TV movies for Cartoon Network. And once you know it, that fact becomes really clear. It looks very much like the Ben 10 movies. Not bad, so much as cheap, but like the director himself said, “We made this fairly quick and low-fi, so not to be judged too harshly.”
Though, honestly, aside from it being a bit on the cheap end, it’s pretty cool. If you imagine a higher-end version of the footage (which is what it would be if it got to air), it’d be fantastic.
