BATMAN Filmmakers Once Again Fail To Grasp The Concept Of Batman

Despite some early moments when Bob Kane Bill Finger was still working out who this new Caped Crusader was going to be, one of the key aspects of Batman is that he doesn’t kill. It’s kind of a big part of his character, that he won’t take a life even if it’s someone like the Joker that’ll just go out and keep killing. However, the people behind Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice don’t really get that.

In an interview with Empire Magazine Batman v Superman producer Charles Roven lets us know just how hardcore Ben Affleck’s Batman is going to be.

“Batman is not giving people a chance… He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner.”

He goes on to explain why.

“He’s older,” stresses the producer, “[and] he’s seen the worst of what man can do. He’s been darkened by it, he’s tougher, he’s angrier, I guess.”

It’s funny that the explanation for Bruce’s bloodlust is that he’s old and seen some shit since the reasoning behind the neck snap heard round the world is that Clark was young and inexperienced. Weird. Sadly, this poor interpretation of Batman is hardly an exception when it comes to live-action.
