1987’s GI JOE: THE MOVIE To Finally Hit Theatres

Intended for a theatrical release, 1987’s GI Joe: The Movie was shuffled off to video and syndication following the disappointing box office returns of 1986’s Transformers: The Movie and My Little Pony: The Movie. Of course, this isn’t the only effect Transformers: The Movie had on the project, just ask Duke. But now, after 35 years, the Joes are making their way to the big screen the way they should have back in the day.

To celebrate the anniversary of the film, Fathom Events will be screening the film for two nights: June 23 and 25. Tickets are available now.

I’ll definitely be seeing this. How could I not? It prominently features several of my favorite characters from the franchise. Also, that opening sequence is three minutes of perfection and needs to be seen in a theatre.
