DAREDEVIL Gets A Second Season And New Showrunners

Less than two weeks after debuting on the streaming service, Netflix’s Daredevil series has been greenlit for a second season. When the show returns next year, however, there will be a few changes.

Showrunner Steven DeKnight is out with Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) taking over. The pair both wrote episodes for season one, so they’re logical choices to replace the exiting DeKnight. Series creator Drew Goddard is still around as an executive producer, as is Jeph Loeb.

Even with Daredevil‘s success, the news is slightly surprising as Netflix’s Marvel shows were promoted as four 13-episode series building up to a Defenders crossover. The possibility of multiple seasons wasn’t really brought up, though I’m certainly not complaining. I can’t wait to see where Daredevil’s story goes from here.
