Did Stan Lee Confirm BLACK PANTHER?

This one kind of managed to slip through the cracks for a few days, possibly because of the holiday or possibly because no one really expects news to break at a Wizard con anymore but it looks like Stan Lee may have confirmed a very long-standing rumor.

While at this past weekend’s Wizard World Comic Con NYC, Stan was asked about upcoming Marvel movies and if the filmmakers planned to include major crossover storylines. He replied by saying that they might, because they’re also fans and then talked about the more obscure characters that are on the way to the big screen.

“The people at Marvel are spending hours trying to think ‘what’ll we do next.’ And there’s a damn good chance that they will think just what you mentioned because it would be a great idea, and little by little, everything you want to see will come along because they’re just like you. They’re fans of the stories and are trying to think ‘what will the fans like to see next? What would we like to see next?’ So they’re working on Ant-Man, working on Doctor Strange; they’re working on Guardians of the Galaxy; they’re working on god knows what. Did I say the Black Panther also? They’re the ones I know about.”

Catch that last one?

BlackPanther

Here, maybe if you hear it coming out of The Man’s own mouth.

Interesting that he just off-handedly mentions Black Panther like it’s common knowledge that just slipped his mind. While it may well have just slipped his mind, fans have dying for some confirmation of this project for ages. And though it’s true Stan isn’t involved in the day-to-day of Marvel anymore, it’s a safe bet he knows more about stuff like this than we do.
