When horror director James Wan took over the Fast and the Furious series from Justin Lin (the director since Tokyo Drift), people didn’t know what to expect. What they got was Furious 7, the fourth highest grossing film of all time. It’s only fair to wonder what he’s up to next.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wan will next be taking on the adaptations of Aquaman and Robotech. Yes, the guy who directed Saw and Insidious. Really. It’s amazing what a $1.5 billion box office will do for you.
Wan’s always been an intriguing director with a great eye. It’s exciting to see what he’ll be able to do with this kind of scale and budget. Though I kind of hope Robotech is three unrelated films spliced together. But that probably won’t happen, which makes me very sad.
But for real – no cheesy pop songs, no sale.
