It’s official. The most hotly-debated nerd argument of the year* is over. We finally know who’s going to play Rocket Raccoon in next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy film.
Marvel.com announced today that Bradley Cooper, star of Wet Hot American Summer and Midnight Meat Train will be voicing the character that Marvel’s Kevin Feige described as having “been genetically and mechanically altered, he’s an experiment from one part of the galaxy.”
I wasn’t sure about Cooper for Rocket Raccoon’s voice when the rumor first started circulating a few days ago, and I’m still not. While I don’t think William Salyers would be right at all, I think Rocket should have the same kind of intensity as Regular Show‘s Rigby. Is that racist? Specist, maybe? I don’t know, I’m sure you’ll tell me.
At any rate, we’ll see how Cooper sounds when Rocket and the rest of the Guardians make it to theatres next summer.
* – And I’m not even kind of joking. People were trying to figure this out more than they were who was going to play Batman before WB dropped the Affleck bomb on everybody.
