So There’s Going To Be A Gambit Movie

Despite what people may say about Doug Ramsey, and no matter what their 90s nostalgia will tell them, Gambit is the worst X-Man. This is a fact and not up for debate.

Unfortunately, Lauren Shuler Donner, producer of the X-Men films, is caught up in her love of Jim Lee era comics and thinks a Gambit movie is a good idea. She’s been saying for quite some time that she’s wanted to make the movie and that she’s wanted Channing Tatum to star. In a brief interview with Total Film, she confirmed that this is exactly what’s happening.

If it has to happen, Tatum’s a good choice, probably the best of the actors who could headline a film right now. He’s a decent actor and he’s charming as hell. He already has a few action movies under his belt. And he’s from the area, so the accent shouldn’t be an issue.

It’s still unknown if Tatum’s version of Gambit will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse or how he’ll square with Taylor Kitsch’s less-than-good portrayal in the disappointing X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Also still unknown – if Anna Paquin will co-star so he can refuse to listen when she says no.
