Sam Raimi’s awesome. I love him. You love him. We all love him. He’s great. Which is why he was at San Diego Comic Con. Well, that and to make some announcements.
Raimi is producing the adaptation of Last of Us, a video game that is exactly something you’d hope he’d be involved with. The writer of the game, Neil Druckmann, will be handling the script.
The game (and I guess now the movie) follows Ellie, a 14 year-old girl, as she tries to make her way through a post-apocalyptic wasteland filled with “infected” cannibals.
While no casting has taken place yet, they’ve met with and really want Maisie Williams (Arya Stark from Game of Thrones) to play Ellie. In fact they told the crowd to keep bringing it up at the GoT panel. That’s kind of a dick move. Not cool, guys.
While he was making the Last of Us announcement, Raimi also, as a bit of “Oh, by the way…,” dropped a bit of bombshell.
He’s writing an Evil Dead TV series. Bruce Campbell is involved. Ivan Raimi is co-writing.
And that’s all we know. It might be a continuation of the old movies or the reboot or something else entirely. Who knows?
