Of all the actors you’d cast in your head to play the Rhino in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man sequel, I’ll bet you never considered Paul Giamatti. But you’re not Marc Webb, who really did pick him for the role. If The Hollywood Reporter is to be believed.
Giamatti, who’s already appeared in a number of comic book adaptations, made his love of the character (and his desire to play him) known back in 2011 in an interview with Showbiz Spy.
“I thought Rhino was the greatest thing when I was a little kid. It was a guy who was basically in this rhinoceros outfit, and I always thought, ‘Why don’t they have The Rhino in one of their movies.’ But maybe The Rhino wasn’t that big of a deal for anybody but me. … If they ever go with The Rhino, I would be ready and waiting.”
According to THR, another possible new cast member is actress Felicity Jones, though it’s still unclear who she’d play. Readers of this site would most likely recognize her as the jewel thief from the Doctor Who episode “The Unicorn and the Wasp”.
