As is standard for Marvel’s films, Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to go back in front of cameras in January. Not because of some sort of massive World War Z-esque top-down rework, but to add even more action scenes. And perhaps to add some fan-favorite characters.
According to Collider, roughly the entire cast and a few other MCU mainstays are being asked to head over to Pinewood studios for two weeks next month. Apparently the plan is to take Age of Ultron, which already has more VFX shots than any other Marvel movie (yes, including the one set in space), and make it even bigger.
The other super-obvious news from Collider is that the two-part Avengers: Infinity Wars will be shot back-to-back. Shocking, right?
Actually intriguing though, is the speculation coming from Badass Digest. With about a thousand MCU projects in some level of development Avengers 2 would be the perfect place to introduce some of these characters. Since we already know some of the film takes place in Wakanda, it would only make sense for Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther to make an appearance. But what if we see someone else too? Someone a little more… cosmic?
With pre-production for the Captain Marvel film about to kick into high gear, casting for Carol Danvers is imminent and what better place for her to debut than Age of Ultron? …Well, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 would be a more logical place actually (what with her space-based powers and having been a member of the team), but James Gunn has shot down the idea of any humans other than Star-Lord in the film so Avengers 2 it is.
The question now is who will be filling the role? The front-runners at the moment seem to be Emily Blunt and Natalie Dormer, either would be just fantastic choices as far as I’m concerned.
