BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS Announced. Looks Like No One’s Going Out For Halloween

The third installment in the epic Arkham trilogy has been announced. And since it’s a prequel, it’s actually the first installment. Kind of like the Underworld movies, because it worked so well there. At any rate, Batman: Arkham Origins is hitting stores October 25, 2013, just in time to make sure no one does anything for Halloween.

There are some caveats: Arkham Origins is being developed by WB Montreal not Rocksteady and Paul Dini is no longer involved in the game’s script. Also, despite sticking with the prequel concept, the Silver Age setting looks to have been jettisoned. Which I honestly do find to be a terrible shame.

The story will involve a younger Batman facing off against eight assassins (many of whom he’s meeting for the first time) all trying to take him down on Christmas Eve. Apparently all of Gotham will be available, but most of the citizens will be indoors, due the weather and the holiday.

There will also be a hand-held spin-off for 3DS and Vita developed by the team that worked on Metroid Prime.
