ORPHAN BLACK’s Awesome Horror Connection

If you had wondered where you recognized Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany from, there’s a good chance you checked IMDB and saw that she starred in one of the Ginger Snaps sequels, but that’s just the beginning of the connections between the two series. And the least interesting.

It turns out that Orphan Black co-creator John Fawcett is also the director of the first Ginger Snaps film (and executive producer of the other two). Not only that, but Brett Sullivan, the director of Ginger Snaps: Unleashed (featuring Maslany) works on Orphan Black as an editor.

That’s a good amount of cast and crew crossover, but here’s where it gets really cool.

Suburban soccer mom Alison lives in the same development that the Fitzgerald sisters grew up in. Given that Tatiana Maslany was 15 when Ginger Snaps came out, Alison would have likely been a classmate of theirs. And since she’s the kind of person who describes someone genetically identical to her as ugly I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she was one of Ginger and Brigitte’s bullies.

At the very least I wonder if she ever had a dog that went missing.
