In what might possibly be the most stunning news from this weekend’s Emerald City Comicon in Seattle, DC has made a startling, should-have-been-wonderful announcement. It’s time for everyone’s fourth-wall-breaking, teleporting fly in the ointment to make his New 52 debut. Yes folks, Ambush Bug is back!
Although I have to echo the reaction of fans at the con, whose joy quickly turned to shock and anger when they found that Irwin Schwab’s return would not be handled by Keith Giffen. Instead we can (and I use this term as loosely as possible) look forward to Ambush Bug Strikes, written and drawn by Rob Liefeld, newly freed from his duties on Hawk and Dove. Liefeld said of the character, “I’ve always been a huge fan of Ambush Bug, the idea of a smart-ass who breaks the fourth wall and comments on genre cliches is so great. It’s been a dream of mine to work on a character like that since he first showed up in the early 80s.”

Um, at least you can see his feet…?
