Who doesn’t love Anchorman? If you raised your hand it was probably accompanied by the whir of a servo, because you’re most certainly a robot. It’s probably one of the funniest roles Will Ferrell’s ever played. And now, after years of development hell, he’s finally coming back for Anchorman 2. Th announcemen was made by Ron Burgundy himself on Conan O’Brien’s show.
That is an amazingly accurate description of Conan.
According to Deadline, the film will be (like half of all comedies anymore) a Judd Apotow production, with Adam McKay directing a script from himself and Will Ferrell. Obviously Ferrell will be returning, as will Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd and (maybe) David Koechner. Koechner is listed on Deadline as returning, but many sites are saying he’s as-yet not confirmed. Christina Applegate is not locked in yet, but is hopefully coming back.
Let me tell you a true story. The first time I saw Anchorman was on TV in the hotel the morning after my wedding. Because of that timing, this insane, bizarre comedy is inextricably connected to the emotions of that weekend, making it – in my eyes at least – one of the most romantic movies ever made. Also, it’s got moments like this.
The fact that my wife and I spend all summer talking about how milk was a bad choice only proves me right.
