Anyone who knows me knows how much I hate the Civil War comic. So it would take a lot (specifically a lot of changes) to get me excited about a movie based on the story. Thankfully, the trailer shows that the filmmakers have decided to avoid the secret identity issue (which makes no sense in the MCU) and focus on accountability. And, hey, they made a movie I’m looking forward to.
There is so much to love and so much to alleviate fears. I still don’t really think any version of this story needs to be told in the films (or anywhere, to be honest) but this might be the best way to do it. Making Civil War a story about Steve and Bucky and the way Cap’s loyalty to him impacts everyone around them is just so perfect.
And one the subject of perfect…
Marvel also released a couple of posters for the film and they’re pretty much what you figured they’d be. Still cool though.
