It’s no secret that I’m not a big fan of Batman and Superman fighting. I think they work better as teammates and, dare I say it, friends. So I’m pretty psyched to see that while there will be a tussle between DC’s Big Guns, they’ll be teaming up and having some playful back and forth.
I’m also liking what WB/DC’s doing with their movies and the level of sheer WTFery they’re playing with. Both Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeĀ and Suicide Squad show a willingness to go to some pretty interesting and weird places. Check out the trailer and see for yourself.
I’m sure he’ll be a source of many fanboy complaints, but I love Jesse Eisenberg’s take on Lex Luthor. He’s weirdly slimy and that’s so much fun. The verbal sparring between Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent and Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne at the party is pitch perfect, setting up both Bats’ initial mistrust of Superman and the kind of playful back-and-forth the two will have later.
I’m cautiously optimistic. Zack Snyder makes very good trailers, sometimes better than the films themselves.
