Phil Lord and Chris Miller may be writing and producing The Lego Movie 2 (now officially titled The Lego Movie Sequel) but, sadly, they’re not going to direct it. If they can’t do the job, is there anyone who can? Hell yes there is.
Rob Schrab, co-creator of The Sarah Silverman Program, director of numerous episodes of Community and Children’s Hospital and creator of one my favorite comics – Scud: The Disposable Assassin (basically his whole IMDB page is filled with greatness), will make his debut as a feature film director with The Lego Movie Sequel.
Lord and Mller said of the hiring,
“We are so excited to collaborate with Rob. He is a comedy genius, a visual savant, and we have been stalking him for years. No one works harder than Rob, and his aesthetic, combined with his sense of humor, bring a strong, unique, thoughtful, and passionately nerdy voice to this project. People who know him are slapping their foreheads today and saying, ‘Of course!,”
And so are people that don’t know him.
