I was (and kind of still am) pretty skeptical about the Suspiria remake. The original is such a perfect mix of scary and weird as fuck that any attempt to recapture that magic has a very uphill battle on its hands. But judging by this trailer, director Luca Guadagnino might have pulled it off.
Holy shit, right? That is one hell of a trailer.
Based on what we see here and the the film’s official synopsis, this isn’t going to be a Psycho-esque shot-for-shot remake but something more akin to Dawn of the Dead where it’s the same basic concept but taken in a different direction.
As a darkness builds at the center of a world-renown dance company, its artistic director (Tilda Swinton), a young American new to the troupe (Dakota Johnson), and a grieving psychotherapist become entangled in a bloody, sighing nightmare.
