The POWERPUFF GIRLS Are Coming Back

The 90s nostalgia train that’s bringing the Boy Meets World sequel Girl Meets World to the Disney Channel and a Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers reboot to theatres (despite the fact that the franchise never left TV screens) is still chugging away and now we know one more stop on its route.

The Wrap is reporting that next year the Powerpuff Girls will be returning to Cartoon Network. “But didn’t they just have that special with the weird animation?” I hear you asking through the mic in your computer. Yes, but this will be a new “rebooted” series.

At this point it’s still unknown what, exactly, they mean by “rebooted”, what the animation will look like, or how involved original series creator Craig McCracken will be. McCracken was not involved in January’s The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed and currently has his hands full with Disney’s excellent Wander Over Yonder.
