This Japanese Internet Explorer Commercial Is Awesome, But Not Enough To Make Me Change Browsers

Nobody uses Internet Explorer anymore. Well, nobody except our parents, but they also still use AOL, so I’m not sure if they count. But Microsoft is hoping to change that by changing the browser’s image in the craziest way possible – by making it a Magical Girl.

Inori

To tie into this weekend’s Anime Festival Asia, the company is introducing Inori Aizawa, Internet Explorer in the form of an anime Magical Girl.

That’s… weird… right? Kind of really cool, but very strange.

Inori Aizawa even has a Facebook page, because why wouldn’t she? What’s interesting about it is how remarkably self-aware it is.

When I was younger, I used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl.

However, just like the story of ugly duckling, people told me that I have really matured and changed over the years. I feel confident in my abilities now, and I’m eager to show you what I can do.

The whole thing’s pretty clever and pretty cool, but not so much that I’m going to give the new IE a shot, because seriously, it’s Internet Explorer, and that’s just not happening.
