Will del Toro’s JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Film Be Part Of A Larger Universe?

At this week’s Festival di Roma 2013 film festival director Guillermo del Toro gave a minor update on his in-development Justice League Dark film, but it’s an update with potentially huge ramifications.

When speaking to Italian film site Cinefilos, del Toro said that there hasn’t been much movement on the film itself, which is still in the script phase.

“We are still on it, writing. Hopefully it will happen, but there are no developments that are new.”

But the big interesting bit came when the director basically confirmed a theory I’ve been floating for months.

“Warner Bros. are making plans for the entire DC Universe, all the superheroes, all the mythologies, and part of that is Justice League Dark. They’re planning on TV, movies, all the media, so we have to fit within that plan.”

I’m curious how, and in what way, his film would tie in to the larger DC movie and TV universe. Does this mean del Toro’s film and the Constantine TV series in the works will be using the same actor? It’s a safe bet keeping the film in line with the planned show is part of what he means.
