This weekend’s NY Comic Con (our coverage coming soon) was the perfect place to debut the trailer for next year’s controversial remake of Evil Dead. So they debuted the trailer there. Bruce Campbell was on hand to give the film his blessing and tell the audience how cool it’s going to be and that they should not worry at all. Though of course he’d say that; he’s a producer.
Unsurprisingly, someone got a camera in and filmed the trailer. You should watch it before the studio takes it down.

It’s certainly different. You can see quite a few of same major beats – creature in basement trapdoor, hand severing, um… tree rape. But the whole thing seems just a little too slick, almost like a Platinum Dunes remake. Hopefully I’m wrong, but that’s the feeling I got.
