With Iron Man 3 already a massive success, it’s time for Marvel to start looking to the future – beyond even this Fall’s Thor: The Dark World and next year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The studio is setting their sights further, into Phase 3.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is well on their way to having the next step of their cinematic universe laid out, with several scripts already finished and quite a few more in the works.
Apparently, scripts based on Blade and Ms. Marvel have been turned in, though it’s not yet known who wrote them. It’s also not clear if the Blade script is a reboot or a continuation of the Wesley Snipes/Sticky Fingaz franchise. It’s hoped, however, that Marvel is smart enough to see the rise in popularity of Carol Danvers since they changed her name to Captain Marvel (and gave her some pants) in the comics and make the same changes for the screen.
THR goes on to say that “Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Black Panther and The Runaways are other projects on the horizon” before mentioning that Marvel’s been working to get back the characters it had licensed out oh so long ago. Now that Blade, Ghost Rider and Daredevil are back under the Marvel umbrella, might I suggest they pool their resources and make a Marvel Knights movie?
But seriously, a finished
Ms. Captain Marvel script? Doctor Strange, Black Panther and The Runaways in the works? And all this was buried at the bottom of an article about how much Robert Downey Jr. got paid for Iron Man 3.
