When word got out yesterday that there was going to be a Predator reboot, much of the internet lost its goddamn mind. Even the team of Shane Black and Fred Dekker couldn’t get the angry mob to lay down their pitchforks and torches. Today I think we might have something that can calm the ravenous hordes.
It’s not a reboot.
Collider went straight to the source and asked director Shane Black about the film and he told them it is a sequel, not a reboot, “As far as Fred and I are concerned anyway,” adding, “Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?”
Black went on to say that he’s not a fan of reboots, but can “really get behind inventive sequels”, and that he likes “the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.”
Although, isn’t that pretty much exactly what the people behind Predators said about that film?
