The First Trailer For TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2 Is Here

Last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was… let’s go with divisive. Most critics hated it and fans were largely split on “terrible” and “not nearly as bad as I expected.” For what it’s worth, I fell into that second camp and thought it was pretty fun. Since then, the filmmakers have been doing everything they can to convince us all that the mistakes of the first film would be fixed for the sequel. Or most of them at least, if you hated the character designs you’re out of luck.

From the addition of Arrow‘s Stephen Amell as Casey Jones to the live-action debut of Bebop and Rocksteady, it seems that new director Dave Green (Earth to Echo) is really putting in the effort to give fans what they want from the franchise. Check out the trailer and see if you think he’s on the right track.

Is this trailer perfect? By no means. Fans are sure to balk at the clearly unfinished CGI for Bebop and Rocksteady and there seems to be a lot of imagery lifted from other, better comic book movies, but by going with the more crazy-as-shit aspects of the franchise Green might have made something really fun.

Of course that won’t satisfy those in the audience who want a violent R-rated super serious take on the Turtles “like the original comics” (not realizing that those old comics were parodies).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hits theatres June 3, 2016.
