The Live-Action TEEN TITANS Is No More

TNT managed to pull off what Deathstroke never could and killed the Teen Titans. The network has cancelled the in-development series based on the sidekick team before it even got a pilot.

It seems the show is a victim of a regime change at TNT, with new president Kevin Reilly not wanting to continue the work of his predecessor. Of the cancellation, Reilly said, simply, “We decided it wasn’t where we wanted to go.”

Perhaps at the end of the day, it’s for the best that the show – which would have featured Dick Grayson, Raven and Starfire, along with a wheelchair-using Barbara Gordon, and an unrelated male-female Hawk and Dove – is off the table. The show was co-created by Akiva Goldsman, the near-universally reviled writer of Batman Forever, Batman and Robin* and Insurgent.

At least we still have Teen Titans Go!.**

*- Full disclosure, I prefer these fun 66-ish Batman movies to Tim Burton’s films and their gun-toting kill-crazy Bruce Wayne.

**- Not sarcastic, that show’s amazing.***

***- I think I’ve probably lost all credibility forever now.
