First the bad news – There’s going to be a Predator reboot. There may have only been one good legitimately good movie in the franchise, but that first movie is a classic. You’d think after four (!) weak sequels, the studio would just give up and let it die. But no. This is a thing that’s happening.
Now the good news – If it has to happen, at least they found an interesting creative team to handle it. Shane Black, most recently of Iron Man Three, will be directing and writing the treatment that his long-time friend Fred Dekker (Monster Squad) will turn into an actual script.
As of right now, we don’t know exactly how much of a reboot it’ll be. It could be a reworked version of the original film or an entirely new story with new characters. All we know right now is that it’ll definitely take place at Christmas.
Trivia Time: Shane Black appeared in the original Predator as a member of Dutch’s squad. The producers unsuccessfully attempted to bribe him into doing a polish on the script by giving him a small role in the film.
